Putting emoji before titles and list items is a signature habit of AI-written text. They render differently on every device and make the writing look lighter, which does not suit health information where trust matters. Along with dropping colorful palettes, emoji were removed across the whole site.
Two machine checks count them. seo:audit scans every built page for emoji characters and inline emoji graphics and reports any page that has even one. count-emoji tabulates the count per site and fails when it is not zero. Even favicons, app icons, share images and the header mark use a monogram (the site’s two-letter mark on a square in the pack’s accent color) instead of emoji.
Only the pack’s icon set may be used, for example Octicons for Primer and Lucide for shadcn. If the set lacks an icon, it is left out rather than mixing in another set. Icons never carry the meaning alone; they are small helpers next to text.
When to use
Think of it when wanting a list or title to feel friendlier, or when moving in text from elsewhere. If the pasted text contains emoji, remove them and say it in words.
